Masseria Carrone

The story of our family

Our family grows together with the land

The story of our family

Masseria Carrone takes its name from the district in which it stands and has its roots in a distant past. Built around the 1600s, the Masseria has witnessed centuries of agricultural history and eventually became the beating heart of our family.

The ancient estate was purchased by Don Cristino Magli, a visionary man and father of three children. Among them, the true protagonist of this story is Don Andrea Magli, an accountant and mayor of Carovigno during the 1970s. Loved and respected by the community, Andrea was a kind man deeply devoted to his land and his people.

He managed the Masseria with dedication until 1986, when he passed the responsibility to his son Pietro, who was only twenty-two years old.

Pietro inherited the Masseria together with his great passion for horses. Soon after, he met and married Mariella, a beautiful, creative woman with a strong entrepreneurial spirit.

Together they faced a difficult period for livestock farming during the mad cow disease crisis, which severely affected the dairy sector. With determination and courage, they reinvented the farm by opening a farm butcher shop, which later led to the creation of a traditional grill restaurant.

Over the years, the agricultural and agritourism activities of the Masseria continued to grow.

Today, Wanda, Carlotta and Camilla, the daughters of Pietro and Mariella, carry on the family tradition with the same dedication and love for the land.
